Helmet Security Emerges With $9 Million to Tackle AI Communication Risks

Washington, D.C., December 5, 2025 — A newly emerged cybersecurity startup focused on protecting artificial intelligence infrastructure has secured $9 million in seed funding, marking a significant investment in the rapidly evolving agentic AI security landscape. Helmet Security announced its emergence from stealth mode on December 5, 2025, with backing from prominent venture capital firms SYN Ventures and WhiteRabbit Ventures.

The company addresses critical security gaps in AI agent communications, specifically targeting vulnerabilities within the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which serves as the foundational layer enabling AI agents to interact with enterprise software and data systems. As organizations increasingly deploy autonomous AI systems, the attack surface for potential breaches has expanded dramatically, creating urgent demand for specialized security solutions.

Helmet Security Addresses Growing AI Infrastructure Vulnerabilities

Founded by Fred Kneip and Kaushik Shanadi, Helmet Security brings substantial industry expertise to the emerging AI security market. Kneip previously founded CyberGRX, a third-party cyber risk management platform that raised $100 million before being acquired by Marlin Equity Partners and ProcessUnity. His track record in building successful cybersecurity ventures adds credibility to the startup’s ambitious mission. Shanadi serves as Chief Technology Officer, bringing deep technical expertise to the platform’s development.

The Helmet Security platform operates as an end-to-end solution that continuously identifies, monitors, and enforces security controls on MCP servers. Traditional security tools often fail to detect threats specific to AI communications, including data exfiltration attempts and prompt injection attacks. The platform automatically scans for MCP servers across enterprise environments, monitors all traffic flowing through MCP connections, and enables security teams to identify and block noncompliant or potentially dangerous connections before damage occurs.

Helmet Security Platform Delivers Comprehensive MCP Lifecycle Protection

The security solution integrates seamlessly with existing endpoint detection and response tools, providing organizations with immediate visibility into how their AI systems connect, communicate, and make decisions. As new MCP communication paths emerge within the network, the platform immediately detects them and brings them under centralized control. This proactive approach prevents shadow AI implementations from creating unmonitored security vulnerabilities.

According to Chief Technology Officer Kaushik Shanadi, the platform balances developer velocity with security governance. “By covering the full MCP lifecycle today and preparing to secure the emerging A2A methods for tomorrow, we help developers maintain speed while giving CISOs real guardrails,” Shanadi explained. The solution enables organizations to define granular policies governing which tools AI agents can access, what communications are permitted, and which privilege levels are appropriate for different use cases.

Helmet Security Funding Signals Investor Confidence in AI Security Market

The $9 million funding round reflects growing investor recognition that AI security represents a critical infrastructure challenge requiring specialized solutions. As enterprises rapidly adopt agentic AI technologies to automate complex workflows, the potential consequences of compromised AI systems have escalated significantly. Unauthorized AI agent access to sensitive data repositories or critical business systems could result in substantial financial and reputational damage.

SYN Ventures and WhiteRabbit Ventures’ investment in Helmet Security demonstrates confidence in both the founding team’s execution capabilities and the massive market opportunity ahead. The company plans to deploy the capital toward expanding its engineering team, accelerating product development, and scaling its go-to-market operations. With Helmet Security platform already designed to support future agent-to-agent (A2A) communication methods beyond MCP, the startup is positioning itself for long-term relevance as AI architecture continues evolving.

The timing of Helmet Security funding proves particularly strategic, as enterprises grapple with securing AI deployments that traditional security tools were never designed to protect. The company’s focus on providing real-time insights into AI decision-making processes addresses a critical blind spot in most organizations’ security postures, making it well-positioned to capture significant market share in the emerging AI security category.
